Prof. Raees Akhtar is an internationally renowned geographer whose pioneering work in Medical Geography, Climate Change, and Health Geography has significantly contributed to the interdisciplinary understanding of disease ecology and environmental health. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor at the International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), New Delhi. A former Lead Author with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Prof. Akhtar contributed to global climate assessments during the period leading up to the IPCC being jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 alongside Al Gore. In recognition of his contribution, he received the IPCC Nobel Memento.
