The Meridian Society invites committed and creative students to help shape its academic, editorial and outreach initiatives.
These positions offer an opportunity to develop leadership, communication and organisational skills while contributing to a platform that connects geographical knowledge with people, places and contemporary concerns.

Vice-President
Open to students of M.A. Previous Geography
The Vice-President will support the President in leading the Society and coordinating its academic, institutional and student-oriented initiatives.
Role and responsibilities
- Assist the President in planning and implementing Society activities.
- Coordinate with members of the Executive Committee.
- Help organise lectures, workshops, discussions and field activities.
- Represent the Society when delegated by the President.
- Encourage active participation among students.
General Secretary
Open to students of M.A. Previous Geography
The General Secretary will coordinate meetings, maintain records and support communication across the Society’s different activities and teams.
Role and responsibilities
- Prepare notices, agendas and minutes of meetings.
- Maintain records of Society activities and decisions.
- Coordinate communication between office-bearers and members.
- Assist in scheduling and organising programmes.
- Support the preparation of reports and official correspondence.
Publishing
Editorial Board
English Editor
Open to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students of Geography
The English Editor will work with student contributors to develop clear, engaging and thoughtful geographical writing for the Society’s website and publications.
Role and responsibilities
- Review articles for clarity, grammar, structure and readability.
- Work constructively with student authors.
- Help develop titles, introductions and article summaries.
- Maintain consistency across English-language publications.
- Encourage original writing on geographical themes.
Hindi Editor
Open to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students of Geography
The Hindi Editor will encourage geographical writing in Hindi and help make the Society’s ideas accessible to a wider and more diverse readership.
Role and responsibilities
- Review Hindi articles for language, clarity and presentation.
- Support students interested in writing geographical content in Hindi.
- Assist with Hindi translations of selected Society material.
- Maintain consistent terminology and editorial standards.
- Promote bilingual academic and public engagement.

Outreach Team
Outreach Coordinator
Open to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students of Geography
The Outreach Coordinator will help connect the Society with students, alumni, schools, institutions and the wider community.
Role and responsibilities
- Promote Society activities within and beyond the department.
- Help build connections with alumni, schools and academic institutions.
- Assist with seminars, public programmes and community initiatives.
- Coordinate invitations, participation and follow-up communication.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and public engagement.
