Professor (Dr.) Bupinder Zutshi is a distinguished academic and researcher who retired from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) following more than 50 years of dedicated service. During his tenure at JNU, he served as a professor, an ICSSR Senior Fellow, and held key administrative leadership roles, including Registrar, Director of Admissions, and Controller of Examinations. Beyond academia, he has also contributed to corporate governance as an Independent Director of the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO). As a committed social advocate, Dr. Zutshi has published 12 books and over 50 research articles focusing on disaster management, education, and demographic shifts. Supported by premier international agencies—including UNESCO, UN Women, and the World Bank—his impactful fieldwork includes spearheading initiatives to combat human trafficking in South Asia. Furthermore, as the current chair of the Children Emancipation Society, he has been instrumental in mainstreaming over 10,000 former child labourers into the formal education system.
